Craniosacral Therapy is a subtle gentle and deeply holistic approach to healing the bodies problems. The body has a powerful self healing mechanism but sometimes, due to injury, emotional trauma, illness or old age this system can break down, leaving the body susceptible to illness.
Craniosacral therapy is a way to release physical, psychological and emotional energy which has been blocked deep within the body’s tissues.
The craniosacral system comprises of the bones of the head, the spinal cord, cerebro spinal fluid and the sacral bone (at the base of the spine). The body has numerous natural rhythms. Just as we breathe and the heart beats there is also the rhythm of the creation and absorption of cerebro spinal fluid. This fluid is constantly being renewed and replenished, however if there is any restriction to the movement of the fluid, membranes or any of the attached bones, the function of the craniosacral system can be compromised. This can have a negative effect on your overall health and well being.
How it works
Using a very gentle touch a trained therapist can identify any pulls, twists and tensions distorting the craniosacral system and assist the body to overcome these restrictions and restore normal healthy function.
What does a Craniosacral treatment involve?
The first treatment starts with a consultation during which we discuss your past medical history, current needs and any advice provided by your doctor. This confidential session aids the development of a treatment plan.
The treatment is given with the client lying down on a massage table, clients remain fully clothed throughout the treatment. The practitioner will place their hands on different parts of the body applying a very light touch, there is no manipulation. You may feel heat, tingling sensations, gentle pulsation, and a sense of deep relaxation. Sometimes emotions will surface from deep within the muscles and tissues of the body. Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, deeply relaxing and profound form of bodywork.
